Code of Conduct

Even though the ISN is well known for its relaxed organization, there are a few rules we would like to inform you about.

The ISN works on a voluntary basis

Although we appear to be a lean mean event-organizing machine, the ISN is run by volunteer students who choose to spend a large portion of their spare time organizing events for you.

Plan ahead

We know, it is difficult for some of you, but keep in mind the organizing committee has to know how many people will join a particular ISN event. The sooner we know, the better we'll be able to organize a fantastic event!

Subscribe as quickly as possible

Once you know you will join, the sooner you let us know, the better we can organize the event. You can subscribe in different ways. Please see the detailed information per event how to subscribe.

First paid, first served

It would be great if you quickly decided to join an ISN event, but even better if you pay right away! Those who have paid are guaranteed to have a seat. Most of the time it is possible to get a bigger coach for popular excursions, but we can only do that if tickets are sold quickly so we know that an excursion is popular.

The ISN is not a bank

Even though we would like to reward those who pay in time, please do not expect us to hold your money for you when you later decide you cannot participate. Personally we would like to refund you, but we are simply bound by third parties we have to rely on, e.g. van rental organizations, hostels and restaurants. More often than not they require us to pay a fee in advance and/or cancellation costs. In that case we are not able to refund your money. Of course you can sell your ticket to an other person, but please inform us by mail.

Stuff happens

Sometimes unforeseen things happen and prevent you from taking part in an ISN activity for which you have subscribed. We perfectly understand, but please inform us in advance, as we (and all the other international students) do not have to wait for you. As explained above, the ISN will not be able to refund your admission fee.

Time is Time

As we are with a big group of international students from different cultures and time settings, we work with the Dutch Clock. That means events start as announced on the internet or other media. Excursions are especially set to strict time settings as the bus driver can only work and drive a certain number of hours each day (by law). Besides that, letting a whole group wait for a couple of students who are late, is not nice. So be sure to leave home early, as cycling often takes longer than expected...

Disclaimer

Unfortunately, it is not possible for Radboud University Nijmegen (RU) and/or the International Student Network Nijmegen to insure you for any type of personal injury or damages incurred during the ISN orientation days, activities and excursions. We therefore cannot accept any responsibility and liability for such injuries or damages. As an international student you are therefore required to provide your own insurance.
